He has said that he was leaving a coffee shop in Austin when a member of the film's casting department approached him on the street and asked him if he was interested in auditioning for a movie.

Wiggins later starred in Linklater's Waking Life and C.M. Talkington's indie crime drama Love and a .45 with Renée Zellweger.
