He first appeared at the age of ten as a child artist in Major Chandrakanth.

Manchu Manoj was born on 20 May 1983, to film actor Mohan Babu and Nirmala Devi.

He has an elder step-sister, Lakshmi, and step-brother, Vishnu, who are both actors and producers.
