Jayden Daniels

Jayden Daniels (born December 18, 2000) is an American football quarterback.

He played college football at Arizona State and LSU, winning the Heisman Trophy and several other awards with the latter in 2023 after throwing for 3,812 yards and 40 touchdowns while rushing for 1,134 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Daniels was born on December 18, 2000, in San Bernardino, California.

Daniels committed to Arizona State on December 13, 2018.

He was a four-star recruit out of Cajon High School in San Bernardino, being ranked second in the nation for dual-threat quarterbacks in the 2019 class.

He graduated early from Cajon in order to enroll at Arizona State in January 2019.

As a freshman, Daniels beat out starter Dillon Sterling-Cole in training camp, making him the first starting true freshman quarterback for the Sun Devils.

Daniels led the Sun Devils to victory against multiple ranked opponents including against #6 Oregon.

For his performance against Oregon, Daniels was named Offensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week by the Pac-12.

Daniels was an honorable mention for the Pac-12 Freshman Offensive Player of the Year.

He led the Sun Devils to a 20–14 victory at the 2019 Sun Bowl

In a shortened 2020 season, Daniels started all 4 games, where he led the Sun Devils to a 2–2 record.

In the Territorial Cup, Daniels finished the game with 2 touchdowns and a quarterback rating of 296.8 in a 70–7 victory against Arizona.

In 2021 Daniels led the Sun Devils to a 8–5 record, but struggled passing the ball throwing 10 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Prior to the 2021 season, the NCAA announced that Arizona State was under investigation due to multiple recruiting violations.

Pete Thamel reported that Daniels' mom allegedly paid more than $1,100 to give flights to recruits.

In 2022, Daniels transferred to Louisiana State University to play for the LSU Tigers.

On November 11, 2023, Daniels passed for 372 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 234 yards and two touchdowns in a 52–35 win over the Florida Gators.

He became the first player in FBS history to record at least 350 passing yards and 200 rushing yards in the same game.

On November 18 against the Georgia State Panthers, Daniels went 25–for–30 with 413 passing yards, 93 rushing yards, and eight total touchdowns.

Daniels won several awards in 2023, including the Heisman Trophy, becoming the third LSU player to win it behind Joe Burrow and Billy Cannon.

He opted out of the 2024 ReliaQuest Bowl after leading the Tigers to a 9–3 record and declared for the 2024 NFL Draft.

Daniels is a Christian.
