Dylan Wang

Wang Hedi (born 20 December 1998), also known as Dylan Wang, is a Chinese actor and singer.

In 2016, Dylan Wang became the champion at the inaugural Sichuan Campus Celebrity Gala, an event sponsored by various universities and colleges.

In June 2017, 18 year-old Wang participated in the Youku talent competition variety show Super Idol hosted by He Jiong, becoming the winner and officially entering the entertainment industry.

He is known for his debut role as Daoming Si in Meteor Garden (2018), and for his breakout role as Dongfang Qingcang in Love Between Fairy and Devil (2022).

Wang was born in Leshan, Sichuan province, to parents who had been employees of a local pharmaceutical factory.

His family later ran a fried skewer shop.

From a young age, Dylan developed a passion for basketball, idolizing LeBron James.

At the age of 14, he moved to Chengdu to attend a vocational school and later graduated from the Sichuan Southwest Vocational College of Civil Aviation.

During his time at the college, he was a model for school's recruitment posters for the Flight Attendant program.

In 2018, Dylan Wang made his acting debut with his leading role as "Daoming Si" in television series Meteor Garden, the remake of popular Taiwanese drama of the same name, based on the Japanese shōjo manga series Boys Over Flowers (花より男子) authored by Yoko Kamio.

He appeared in the November issue of Harper's Bazaar China with his Meteor Garden co-stars Darren Chen, Caesar Wu and Connor Leong.

He was one of the guests on the variety show Phanta City, a musical program, with his Meteor Garden costars.

In October, he joined the second season of Hunan TV's variety show The Inn 2 with his Meteor Garden costar Shen Yue.

In November 2018, Dylan Wang appeared as the youth ambassador at Le Tour De France Skoda Shanghai Criterium.

Wang is spokesman for domestic brands AutoNavi, Peacebird, Pizza Hut, and Bolon eyewear, as well as the China ambassador for international brands Sabon, Guerlain perfume, Estée Lauder, Pepsi and Louis Vuitton.

On his birthday of December 20th, 2022, Dylan Wang launched his own fashion brand, D.DESIRABLE.

In 2019, Wang was cast in the period drama The National Southwest Associated University and Us, whose name would be changed to Youth in the Flames of War and premiered in 2023.

In September 2019, Dylan participated in the Super Penguin Basketball Celebrity Game hosted at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center.

He was part of the winning 'Red Team'.

In the same year, he was cast as male lead in the second season of fantasy drama Ever Night.

The series premiered in January 2020.

Wang starred as the male lead in the romance drama The Rational Life (2021) alongside Qin Lan, where he plays "Qi Xiao."

He also played the role of Yuchi Longyan, in the historical fantasy drama Miss The Dragon (2021) along with Zhu Xudan.

The show was critically-panned and ridiculed on social media, with Wang being significantly affected by the negative reaction.

He had since taken responsibility for the backlash to his performance, and that that he was unfamiliar with characters in historical fantasy genres and that his understanding of the character was limited.

In the same year, his drama opposite Chen Yuqi, the costume drama Unchained Love was aired.

In January 2022, Wang joined "Good 6 Group," the host group of Hunan Satellite TV's variety show Hello, Saturday led by He Jiong, along with Feng Xi, Ada Choi, Qin Xiaoxian, Bridge, Tan Jianci, Cai Wenjing, Zhao Xiaotang and others.

He was also a season regular cast of season 2 of reality series Wonderland.

In July 2022, he joined the urban exploration reality show Going All Out Action School, along with Huang Minghao, Qin Xiaoxian and Hani Kyzy.

Wang's IQiyi xianxia drama Love Between Fairy and Devil, in which he played the role of Dongfang Qingcang, premiered in August 2022.

The show exceeded 10,000 popularity points (performance metric) on IQiyi' s platform within 2 weeks of its premiere, becoming the fourth drama to achieve so.

The series propelled Wang to widespread fame domestically, with his social media following increasing rapidly across all platforms while the show was being aired.

In early 2023, Wang's modern sitcom Never Give Up was streamed on iQiyi in early 2023.

Wang later starred opposite Bai Lu in romance drama Only For Love. Wang also participated in the 2024 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game.
